Welcome
Successful development demands wide-ranging skills
S Harrison Group is one of the UK's most successful privately-owned development businesses with a reputation for quality and delivery, and an impressive portfolio of live and completed projects covering residential, retail, leisure, commercial, industrial, educational and mixed-use schemes across the Midlands and the North of England.
This year it celebrates its 60th anniversary.
The success Harrison has built up over 60 years is based on its commitment to partnering - with land and property owners, private and public sector organisations alike. Bringing its own blend of professional and management expertise, Harrison delivers value to all those involved in schemes development, often on difficult sites where others see no scope for reward.
So many of Harrison's flagship developments deliver real community benefit, and Harrison has established a strong reputation for its consultative approach, ensuring that wherever possible all scheme stakeholders derive optimum benefit.
History shapes the future
The S Harrison Group was founded by the late Stanley Harrison in 1952. Originally a small local building company, the business grew on the basis of its reputation for quality on-time delivery, moving headquarters to its own highly-praised mixed use regeneration scheme at Malton Station in 1998.
Under the leadership of Stanley's son Martyn, the Group has gone from strength to strength, growing successful construction and development businesses in parallel until 2007 when the decision was taken to sell the construction arm and focus on the burgeoning developments operation which had already spread from the group's North Yorkshire heartlands to be delivering schemes on both sides of the Pennines and deep into South Yorkshire and the Midlands.
The sale of the construction business coincided with the Group's move to new prestigious headquarters offices at The Chocolate Works - the former Terry's factory site - adjacent to the world famous racecourse on the western edge of the city, in 2007.
Harrison won praise from the local planning officers for its excellent design vision and commitment to sustainability in its adaptation of the former Time Office - a 1920s listed building - which now accommodates the Harrison Group team and also to provide high-quality office accommodation for others.
