BEST FOOT FORWARD FOR CHARITY TREK

The third annual trek – over 2, 5 and 15 miles around Castle Howard - takes place this Sunday. Colin, a trustee of UK charity New Futures Nepal, hopes the event will raise thousands of pounds to help provide shelter and new hope for children in one of the poorest countries in the world.

In the past two years the event, sponsored by York firm S Harrison Developments Ltd, has raised over £26000.

“It’s more than just a walk around Castle Howard and the surrounding countryside,” says Colin. “This year we are making it much more of a fun day out for all the family with stalls, food, entertainment at base camp, in the grounds of Yorkshire’s finest historic house and estate.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Howard family, the £10 charity donation for taking part in the trek also gives free access to the grounds of Castle Howard.

“Every penny of the money raised from the trek will go directly towards the welfare of children in Nepal where the charity is planning to build a second home for orphans and disadvantaged people, in the coming year.”

This is the third year that Harrison has sponsored the trek which has also received support from the Archbishop of York and Gurkha rights campaigner, Joanna Lumley.
