PENINSULA KEEPS IT IN THE FAMILY

PENINSULA KEEPS IT IN THE FAMILY
When Gill Smith first saw Harrison’s Peninsula apartments development, she fell in love with it. Now, ten months on, her daughter Helen has followed in her footsteps to make living at Peninsula a family affair.
Gill, a receptionist/supervisor at a Sheffield insurance brokers, was not in a position to buy when she moved to Peninsula, on Penistone Rd, last August. The mother of two grown-up daughters, Gill moved into her one-bed fourth floor apartment as part of Harrison’s try-before-you-buy scheme. “It was great,” says Gill. “I get fabulous views of the sunset and the location is ideal for getting to work and for shopping. It’s an up and coming area of the city so to buy would be a good investment. I hadn’t sold my old home at the time but wanted to move so opted to rent.”
She instantly fell in love with the place and rather than wait the full twelve months before taking up the buy option she chose to do it as soon as circumstances allowed.
One thing she hadn’t bargained for when daughter Helen (23) came with her to view the apartment was that she too would love it so much that she would want to move in to her own apartment there.
“Lynsay of agents Saxton Mee was absolutely brilliant. She knew that Helen was not in a position to buy so stepped up to the mark to find an apartment she could rent. She’s been like a guardian angel!” says Gill. “Now it’s so good to have Helen close by, but with a place of her own.”
Helen moved in earlier this year and is hoping to buy under the try-before-you-buy scheme. Harrison agree to allow the first year’s rental payments on the apartment as a down payment on the purchase, if tenants decide to buy within twelve months of moving in.
On offer, via agents Saxton Mee, is a selection of studio, one and two-bed apartments with prices starting from just £72,000.
